Abstract: Many large organizations today survive and are even successful without the aid of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Those who would argue the point are CMMS users, sellers, or developers. But some that have purchased a CMMS wish they had never even heard of the acronym. Do you know what steps you need to take in order to make sure a CMMS disaster doesn’t happen to you? PubDate: 6/22/2007 4:26:00 PM
Abstract: As companies continue to look for more areas from which to squeeze out revenues and reduce expenses, enterprise asset management (EAM) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) software continue to receive good press as the systems providing an answer--and with justification. But what software makes the most sense for your company and from which providers--EAM/CMMS best-of-breed incumbents or enterprise resource planning (ERP)
Abstract: This article looks at where computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) end and enterprise asset management (EAM) takes over, focusing on features and functionality of EAM software. It also compares CMMS and EAM software and explores the two key differentiators.
Abstract: Companies are looking for more areas to squeeze savings out of operations. One such area that may be fertile ground to explore is equipment maintenance. The class of software that can help to cultivate these savings is computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). This article discusses the basics of CMMS and its key features, enabling you to determine whether your company should investigate this software as a potential source of savings.
Abstract: Does it really make sense to spend money to save money? The answer may surprise you when it comes to maintenance of large capital assets including Facilities, Fleet, Plant Equipment and yes, even computers. It makes even more sense when you consider that today more and more companies are adding a new line item in their financial statements called 'Deferred Maintenance Revenue Write Down'. A lack of preventive maintenance affects the shareholders of all companies due to aging assets and reactive maintenance practices. A complete preventive maintenance program consisting of better business practices and a simple tool such as a Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) package can streamline the process and result in immediate savings in both time and money. So how do you justify the initial investment and where can the cost savings be seen across the enterprise?
Abstract: Now that the economic recovery is under way, many food processors are investing in enterprise solutions. This special report explores how food and beverage processors are moving to a predictive maintenance model; the critical role of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) in safety and compliance; how to “go green” without breaking the bank; and how to renovate processing plants for energy efficiency.
Abstract: Application Service Provision (ASP).There has been a trend in recent years towards the use of remote software services through application service providers. These are companies who make software applications available via the Internet to users who, rather than buying software, pay rental fees for it. The software does not have to be installed locally, the application being available through any web browser, and all support and maintenance is handled by the service provider. CMMS vendors are not the only ones offering these solutions. CAD modelling, engineering design, finance packages, purchasing, ERP and even your company Intranet can now be rented. This is an expanding sector and the signs are that major growth is about to take place. Earlier problems with slow data transfer speeds, communication costs and data security have largely been eliminated and this has made ASP a very attractive proposition. This is clearly illustrated by the proliferation of systems that have become available over the last three or four years with most of the major CMMS vendors now offering an ASP option.
Abstract: As you look for ways to get the most out of your existing operating assets, enterprise asset management (EAM) and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) solutions are key. However, when it comes to researching, selecting, and implementing the right EAM/CMMS software, you need to avoid several mistakes. Discover 10 common errors you should avoid if you’re looking for a new or replacement EAM or CMMS solution.
Abstract: Anywhere from 40 to 80 percent of CMMS implementations fail to meet expectations. However, by evaluating the company's business process flow, having proper organizational structure and buy-in, you can realize the true benefits of CMMS and avoid becoming another failure statistic.
Abstract: Computer maintenance management system (CMMS) packages are excellent tools for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data and can offer insight into a process’ problem. Critical success factors for the effective use for the CMMS involves clear support from management and measurable drivers involving time, quality, and cost.
Abstract: Today’s defense industry needs maintenance and logistics software that increases the self-sustainability of weapons systems and allows system operators to perform maintenance in the field—increasing uptime and readiness. An integrated maintenance and logistics (IML) solution provides critical information for multiple weapons systems in real time—thus increasing readiness without increasing headcount.
Abstract: Today’s maintenance staff is tasked with doing more with less. The challenge here is that their efficiency ratings when measured can be as low as 10% to 40%. So where does your maintenance department stand in terms of these statistics? Although CMMS software has been around for more than 20 years, and the adoption rate continues to climb, many companies still struggle with creating an efficient centralized maintenance and operations program.
Abstract: Companies that have moved from a highly reactive environment to a more planned one notice significant improvement. A computer maintenance management or enterprise asset management system is useful tool to create a planned environment, help build accurate equipment history, and develop comprehensive analysis capability.
Abstract: The implementation of an enterprise level system is a tumultuous event with far reaching consequences throughout an organization. Therefore we can see the implementation process as a means of taking the quantum leap in maintenance management techniques.

Abstract: In the airline industry, aircraft maintenance is an activity that has to be done throughout the day, so maintenance personnel must be available at all times. The complexity of the operation increases the need for a maintenance personnel management system.
Abstract: Despite all of these great advances in our work environments the great majority of plants and industrial organizations continue to operate in a reactive state of maintenance. Why is this so? Today the functionalities of CMMS, or the technology to manage maintenance, have outstripped our abilities to do so in practice.
Abstract: The core components of a retail information system are inventory management, inventory optimization, revenue management, sales management, and reports and inquiries. Non-core components can include financial, supply chain management, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, and warehouse management systems.
